The Science to Psychedelic Drugs

Jul 9, 2014

People who have taken psychedelic drugs have reported visions that they would pin as being in a dreamlike state. These drugs commonly distort reality and cause hallucinations, the reason for this this has been unclear. A recent study was done in which 15 volunteers were either given a placebo or a drug in which replicates the actions of magic mushrooms. This study gave way to the deeper happenings of psychedelic drugs.

The drug that was provided in the study resulted in higher brain activity in the emotional spectrum. This helped doctors to discover that the brain activity that occurred when using psychedelic drugs is extremely similar to the brain activity when asleep. Essentially it is as if you are dreaming while awake. Further studies must be done to see their effects on health conditions.
